BEHIND THE MUSIC

Jennifer Kim is a Professional Bassist and Jazz Vocalist based in Vancouver.
She began her musical journey from the young age of 5, learning piano through the Royal Conservatory Of Music (RCM) Program. During her adolescence, Jennifer switched her focus onto the upright bass, a jazz rhythm-section instrument. Her skills on the bass progressed quickly, earning her a spot in both the District and the Provincial Honour Ensembles. Jennifer also has 15+ years of vocal experience and is currently studying under the world-renowned Jazz Vocalist, Jennifer Scott. After discovering her voice for Jazz, Jen Kim was in the BCMEA Honour Provincial Vocal Jazz Ensemble 2015/2016 and was Awarded a full-tuition Scholarship to Capilano University for her Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies.
Now a professional musician, composer and educator, she says she is "excited for the future" performing live shows on bass and directing her very own big band, the Jen Kim Big Band. Jennifer has toured both locally and globally; Today, you can find her performing in all of the Greater Vancouver area or at Capilano University.
