Hello~!
Jennifer Kim, aka Jazz & Plants, is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based on the West Coast. Formally trained with a BA in (jazz) music composition & performance, she worked professionally as a bassist and vocalist for over a decade before expanding her creative practice into visual art and design. Art and Music go hand-in-hand for her, and she says, she cannot have one without the other; Their connection is what inspires most of her works.
Jennifer's career in technology began in Montreal as a Software Quality Assurance Technician, where she contributed writing for Riot Games, Sanzaru Games and eventually, Kite App Inc. for the development of Streetpass. This experience sparked her interest in UX/UI design, which is now the focus of her professional work.
Jennifer has spent her life exploring many forms of expression; her creative process involves blending art, music and technology. Whether painting, singing or making mini video games, Jennifer creates with the same intention: To connect, explore and inspire.
The Connectivity Between All Art Forms
I believe that all forms of art are connected through the expressions of our emotions and our senses. Some of us even have a rare neurological condition that allow us to experience synaesthesia - where the stimulation of one sense can trigger experiences in another sense. For example, synaesthesia allows me to sense colours and tastes when I hear music, ultimately inspiring my visual artwork.
